In general, it is sometimes very difficult for children to identify what kind of pain they are suffering from. A sore throat is chronically known to us adults, and we can accurately say that our throat hurts, itches or burns. In children, naming this pain is sometimes very complicated. Even more so if you have a baby at home who cannot speak and cannot describe the pain in the throat. How to find out that the baby has a sore throat?

A sore throat is often an indication of a respiratory disease. It very often occurs in connection with a cold, a blocked nose during the flu, or usually with purulent angina. Typical symptoms are painful swallowing, a scratchy or burning sensation in the throat and a reddened mucous membrane, which can also be manifested by swelling of the nodes in the neck area.

In children, a sore throat can indicate rejection of liquids, food, crying, fatigue and in some cases even vomiting. In small newborns and infants, an increased temperature can also be a symptom. Usually, sore throat is associated with inflammatory processes on the mucous membrane. Sore throat is an inflammation of the mucous membrane, which irritates and scratches. The most common cause of sore throat in children is a viral infection. It is advisable to consult a pediatrician about the treatment.

Local medications that have an antiseptic effect are usually used to treat sore throats in children. The disadvantage is that they cannot suck lozenges or gargle solutions, so sprays, syrups or drops are more suitable for small children.
