It is advisable to take a pregnancy test with high sensitivity 7 to 8 days after the day when potential fertilization could have occurred. Manufacturers usually recommend taking a pregnancy test on the 7th-10th day after the missed period. In this case, the result should have the highest accuracy.

There are a number of cases where women who suspected pregnancy took a pregnancy test that was negative. Often the pregnancy test did not pick up the hCG level even after 2 or 3 weeks after the woman was already pregnant. The reason may be a low-quality test, but also other factors. In any case, the test may fail in some cases. The same applies to a false positive or negative result. Hormonal changes in the body are usually to blame. It is always advisable to repeat the test in a few days. You can never completely rely on the result of a pregnancy test. If you suspect that you are pregnant or your period is unexpectedly late despite regularity, visit your gynecologist.

Several women state that the tests in their case often showed contradictory results. In some cases of the discussing women, the test showed a negative result several times in a row and only after a long time the test came out positive. Women also state that despite the clear symptoms of pregnancy, the test did not show a positive result and the pregnancy was confirmed only by a doctor. There are frequent cases when the pregnancy test showed a positive result only after 4 or 5 weeks of pregnancy. Some medications or hormonal preparations can also have an influence on the test result.
