But what matters is how much weight you gain.

It is ideal to gain 9 to 15 kg before childbirth, in the first trimester the increase should be insignificant, around 1 to 2 kg. More intensive weight gain occurs only in the second trimester, when it should be an increase of 5 to 7 kg, and in the third it should be 3 to 6 kg. Weight should increase gradually and evenly during pregnancy. With a significant increase in weight, the mother risks problems with breathing, movement and varicose veins, and with a small increase in weight, there is a risk of premature birth of the baby and its low birth weight.

You can limit weight gain during pregnancy in several ways. It is necessary to pay attention to the correct ratio of nutrients, proteins and healthy carbohydrates are important, fat should be limited. It is definitely not necessary to literally eat for two. It is important to consume fruits and vegetables, to sweeten little and healthy, instead of classic sugar, it is better to choose honey or grape sugar. You should avoid stress and watch your water intake. Stress adversely affects both the child and the weight. The drinking regimen should consist of 2.5 to 3 liters of non-bubbly and unsweetened beverages.

Try to eat smaller portions 5 to 7 times a day, food must be taken regularly to keep digestion active. Eat slowly and chew well. The basis of the drinking regime should be clean water, it is also advisable to drink smaller amounts several times a day, e.g. 1 to 2 dcl once every 1-2 hours. During pregnancy, you should avoid semi-finished products, ready meals, fast food and canned food. Salted, smoked or excessively spicy foods are also not allowed. Don't forget to exercise even during pregnancy - regular walking, yoga, swimming are ideal.
