The menu requires certain changes during pregnancy - not only do tastes change, but some foods are downright inappropriate. Certain types of herbs and spices, unpasteurized dairy products, raw or uncooked meat products, sweets and confectionery with a high content of refined sugar or alcohol are taboo. How is the pineapple? Is its consumption during pregnancy suitable?

Pineapple is said to induce labor or cause abortion, but it is also said to help with implantation of the egg and should therefore be consumed after ovulation. However, there is no scientific evidence that pineapple is dangerous during pregnancy, quite the contrary. In reasonable amounts, it is a safe and healthy choice. It is rich in antioxidants and is a natural source of folic acid. The enzyme bromelain, which can adversely affect the proteins in the body during pregnancy and lead to abnormal bleeding, is only contained in a small amount in the pulp, most of it is found in the hard core of the pineapple, which is usually not consumed.

Although pineapple is not harmful, the acids it contains can cause heartburn or reflux. It is a condition caused by hormonal and biological changes during pregnancy, which may not occur in every pregnancy, but it is a very common symptom of pregnancy. Pineapple can also cause an allergic reaction, usually people who are allergic to it are also allergic to latex.

Excessive consumption of pineapple can cause diarrhea and heartburn, skin rash and vomiting, excessive consumption of bromelain can weaken the cervix and lead to miscarriage. Pineapple contains a higher amount of sugar (10 g per 100 g), therefore consumption is not suitable for women who suffer from gestational diabetes.

In this case, it is true that consuming a reasonable amount of pineapple is beneficial for pregnancy, excessive consumption can cause problems. Mothers recommend it especially at the end of pregnancy, according to them, it can speed up childbirth.
