If your period is late, or if you have noticed the first signs of pregnancy and want to find out if you are really pregnant, it is advisable to take a pregnancy test. Keeping a cool head in such an exciting moment is not always easy. The instructions may surprise you and the question arises whether you can use the test correctly.

The instructions for use must be read in advance and in detail, as the tests are slightly different. Each needs a sufficient amount of urine sample to work properly, they differ in which part of the test needs to be submerged and for how long. If you immerse it too short or too long, you may get a false negative pregnancy test, a false positive test is not common.

A pregnancy test measures the presence of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in the urine. The timing of the pregnancy test is crucial for the accuracy of the result. The level of HCG or pregnancy hormone will begin to increase in the body during implantation of the egg. The placenta starts producing it only when the fertilized egg implants in the uterus. It occurs 6 to 12 days after intercourse.

How many days after conception you can use the pregnancy test to determine pregnancy will determine its sensitivity. The most sensitive tests can detect pregnancy about 4 days before the expected menstruation, at that time the concentration of hCG is still very low, so it is necessary to do a morning urine test. Despite this, a false-negative test can still come out, so it is best to take a morning urine test on the day you missed your period. If you use a less sensitive test early, you may get a negative result even though you are pregnant, as the level of the hCG hormone has not yet reached the level at which the test can determine pregnancy. Choose the sensitivity of the test according to which stage of pregnancy you want to use it.

Traditional pregnancy tests indicate the result with commas - the control comma shows whether the test is working correctly and the test comma confirms pregnancy. On a positive test, in addition to the control comma, there will also be a test comma, i.e. two commas. There are also pregnancy tests that show pregnancy with a + sign (in the case of a positive result) or a - sign (in the case of a negative result).
