This also results in specifics that must be taken into account. From the beginning of pregnancy, it is necessary to be careful about certain foods, situations or activities. First of all, during the first trimester, most pregnant women must expect that pregnancy symptoms are strongest during this period. The first trimester is the most sensitive period of pregnancy. Hormonal changes take place in the body, nausea of pregnancy, vomiting, breast pain, headache, dizziness, increased fatigue, sleep problems (insomnia in the 1st trimester), more frequent urination, blood pressure fluctuations and sudden mood swings appear. Women should start paying attention to excessive physical activity and not overexerting themselves. If a woman is used to movement and sports activities, she does not have to limit herself significantly, but it is better if she opts for less dynamic movement activities - swimming, walking, yoga. Exercise in pregnancy it is very beneficial.
Do not forget that in the first trimester you must undergo the first examination by a gynecologist. Usually, the first visit takes place around the 8th to 12th week, when it is possible to confirm the pregnancy with certainty, but in some cases a visit to the gynecologist is also possible earlier.
In connection with lifestyle changes, it is a condition that you completely limit smoking and drinking alcohol in the first trimester and the entire subsequent period of pregnancy. In both of these cases, the woman endangers her health, but also the life of the child. Pay attention to the medicines that you have used so far. You can take some common headache medications containing paracetamol. But watch out for candies for a sore throat. Many of them are not suitable for pregnant women. Always consult your doctor about the use of medicines during pregnancy.
It is necessary to adjust eating habits and drinking regime. First of all, it is necessary to increase fluid intake. Ideally clean water, or fruit and vegetable juices rich in vitamins. You have to be careful about caffeine intake. At least during the first trimester, it is recommended to completely avoid drinking coffee. Later, one coffee a day during pregnancy will not do any harm. Beware of raw meat (note the risk of listeria infection), fish (sushi), seafood, unpasteurized dairy products, mold cheeses, fried foods, smoked foods, semi-finished products or pates. Artificial sweeteners, which are, for example, part of sweets, are also unsuitable. Avoid these foods throughout pregnancy. Also watch out for some herbs, such as sage, rosemary, motherwort or chestnut.
In the first trimester, you should completely avoid saunas. Despite some expert advice that saunas during pregnancy are not suitable at all even in the later stages, the second camp of doctors and researchers talk about the positive effects on a woman's health and psychological well-being. However, it is important not to exceed the time of stay in the sauna, namely 2 x 10 minutes at most. Also, avoid sudden cooling after the sauna, moisten yourself with lukewarm water or in the air. If you can, prefer a biosauna with a lower temperature. Completely avoid hot thermal springs and hot tubs throughout pregnancy. It is also better to avoid the solarium from the first trimester and be careful of staying in direct sunlight for a long time.
What about flying in the first trimester ? pregnancy? Due to the assumption of the appearance of the first symptoms of pregnancy, it is not recommended for women to fly in the first trimester. There are pregnant women who do not feel the symptoms of pregnancy so intensely, and traveling by plane does not have to be a problem for them. A pregnant woman must adhere more strictly to hygiene principles, but the presence of a dog or cat definitely does not represent a fundamental increase in risk.
