Many parents-to-be want to know the gender of the baby - because of choosing a name, suitable equipment or stroller. However, there are also those who do not want to know the gender and want to be surprised during the birth. If you are interested in the gender of your baby, you can find out whether it is a girl or a boy already in the 1st trimester.

You can reveal the gender of the child using DNA tests, which are aimed at excluding chromosomal errors, but also from ultrasound. Officially, the sex of the baby can only be determined at 20 weeks of pregnancy thanks to a large ultrasound, but if the baby is in the right position, you can already find out whether it will be a boy or a girl during an examination at 11 to 13 weeks. On the first ultrasound, children have a visible protrusion between the legs, which is called the genital bump or nodule. It will later develop into a male or female organ. The angle of inclination of this bump is important - if it does not point more than 30 degrees upwards from the child's spine, you will have a girl, if the bump is raised more, we will have a boy. The accuracy is quite high even at such an early stage of pregnancy. After the 11th week the accuracy is less than 50%, after the 12th week of pregnancy it is more than 90%.

An amniocentesis is also an option to find out the gender of the child. Amniotic fluid is usually collected from the 15th week, but you can get information about the genetic make-up of the child from the 11th week thanks to early amniocentesis. A non-invasive method is determining the gender of the baby from the mother's blood. As a rule, it is performed after the 12th week of pregnancy.

In the 10th week of pregnancy, you can find out the gender using a morning urine test. Its reliability is more than 90%. It is available in pharmacies and on the Internet.

You can reveal the gender of the child with the help of grandmother's advice, but their reliability is not very high. Most often, mothers determine the gender of the child by the position of the abdomen. If it sits low, it will be a boy, if it sits higher, it will be a girl. Your taste buds can tell you more about the sex of the little one. Pregnant women who prefer sweet will probably have a girl, those who prefer salty or sour are most likely expecting a boy. It is said that women expecting a boy have acidic urine and those expecting a girl have alkaline urine. In the morning, pee into a cup and pour baking soda into the urine. If it starts to fizz, it's a boy, if nothing happens, you're probably expecting a girl. You can also find out the gender of the child by the future father. It is said that if your partner starts gaining weight during pregnancy along with you, you are expecting a girl. If he does not gain or lose weight, you are expecting a boy. Girls' hearts reportedly beat a little faster than boys', so ask the doctor about the baby's heartbeat during the ultrasound. Values below 140 beats mean a boy, above 140 beats a girl.

According to the discussing mothers, gender determination is not 100 percent even in the case of doctors. It is not always possible to determine this from sleep and sometimes, despite the correct position of the baby, the results are wrong. The doctor announced the gender to some women at the 13th tt, to some at the 22nd or even later. If you want to be more sure, you can find out the gender of the baby from blood. However, the test is paid.
