Speech development is a long process, starting already in the womb. Already in the 5th month of the fetus's life, the baby begins to hear and get used to its mother's voice, at the beginning of the 7th month it can distinguish the mother's voice from the voice of other women. At the age of 2-3 months, the baby starts making various throat sounds (eg gg, gi, grr, hrr or ag). It is necessary to remember that every child develops at its own pace. One can speak in full sentences already at the age of two, the other uses only a few words. Children's speech develops gradually , but every child is different.

After about 6 months, the first attempts to imitate human speech come, the child realizes that he communicates with sounds and wants to imitate the speech of adults. It usually starts with simple syllables (ma, ba, da, ta, eg, etc.), which later expands to multisyllabic first attempts at words (baba, dada, tatata, etc.). He already responds to his name.

At the end of the 1st year of life, the child already recognizes the meaning of basic words and uses them consciously. These are words like mom, dad, daj or pa.

It "talks" between the 18th and 24th months. A child at this age should know 50 to 200 words, but he understands many more words. It is a combination of normal words (mom, dad, etc.) and a cluster of sounds that the child uses to communicate (papu, ham, etc.). The child communicates with simple sentences and gestures. He is not yet able to fully verbalize his thoughts, so he often uses his own words and language. Around the age of 2-3 comes the first period of defiance and the child uses the word no excessively.

So the child should be able to speak by the age of 3. The human voice is important to him - talk to him, sing to him, read to him, describe pictures and imitate animal sounds. This will help the child with intonation, he will try to imitate you and talk with you.

If the child does not speak after the age of 3, you should consult a specialist.
